Astrion Promotes Ignacio “Iggy” Alvarez to Executive Vice President and General Manager, Air Force
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., [Jan. 21, 2026] – Astrion, a solutions provider supporting national security and federal priorities, today announced the promotion of Ignacio “Iggy” Alvarez to Executive Vice President and General Manager, Air Force. Alvarez, a proven leader with more than two decades of military and industry experience, will lead Astrion’s Air Force business, overseeing programs that support critical Air Force operational and modernization priorities.
Alvarez joined Astrion in 2022 as a portfolio manager and has played a key leadership role supporting Air Force customers across a wide range of mission-critical capabilities, including C5ISR, fixed- and rotary-wing platforms, research and development, test and evaluation, and cyber services. His promotion underscores Astrion’s commitment to recognizing and advancing leaders who consistently deliver results and embody the company’s mission-focused culture.

Before joining Astrion, Alvarez held positions of increasing responsibility at Jacobs Technology, progressing from program manager to senior director and portfolio manager. He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, commanding at multiple levels and culminating his military career as Chief of the Secretary of the Air Force Communications and Information Programs Integration Branch. In that role, he led development, congressional briefings, and budget submissions for the Air Force’s $7 billion information technology portfolio.
Alvarez holds degrees in computer programming and systems management from the University of Puerto Rico and management information systems from the University of Maryland (European Division/Bowie State). He is also a Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
